12: GRADUAL DEFORESTATION OF A MOUNTAIN

Everyday as I pass by this mountain,
I never fail to see and take notice
The carpet of trees that blanketed it once,
       Was so thick and compact.

As I go on my daily commute.
I always pass by this forested mountain
Everyday I take notice that the thick
        Forest that carpeted this mountain,
Is gradually getting thinner.

It's Perplexing to think about,
        How  is this happening.
Never see any activity going on up there.
Never even saw any people up there.
So how is it that this once deeply,
Forested mountain is gradually being deforested?

Is it due to constant seasonal change?
An act of nature? Wear and Tear?
Man's wrongdoing? Climate change?
Or worse, an act of God?

I'm so perplexed and in a wits end,
        Trying to juggle my mind
Hoping to find the answer as to why is this happening.
And if I ever find one,
Will I be able to do something about it?
Will I be able to put a stop on it?
As I wonder I gave out a sigh of pity,
To the mountain slowly being deforested.
