78: COLUMNS

The simple Doric.
The elaborate Ionic.
The most elaborate Corinthian.
All three classical columns -
All three fascinates me,
Since the time I first saw -
How beautiful and perfect they are.
Oh how I would love to caress -
The smooth surfaces of -
All three of them.

77: ONE FOGGY MORNING

On this cold morning
Engulfed by thick fog.
The earth swallowed entirely -
By fog.

Visibility is so impaired.
The headlights of the approaching -
Automobiles could only be seen -
About six yards away.

I wonder what else would come out -
Of the thick fog.
Will it be monsters? Or -
Will it be Goddesses?
I would prefer the latter.

76: THE MARATHON

I joined a marathon.
The mother of all marathons.
I started out strongly,
I surged past a lot of other participants.
I was so full of energy.
I felt tireless.
I got past the first two stages,
But not without any difficulties.

As I surged through the third stage,
I got distracted.
I slipped - I tripped over a pothole.
I got up and tried to continue,
Prithee the pain on my ankle -
Won't let me.
My foot got swollen and sore,
To continue was next to impossible.

So there I stayed by the side of the road.
Nursing my foot hoping it would heal,
But it seems recuperation takes time -
For until now, I haven't recuperated yet.

For I am just a human being
Prone to committing errors -
Prone to succumb to temptations.
A man could resist all worldly pressures,
For a man was blessed with the power to resist.
Prithee I didn't resist,
For I am spending my present time -
Lamenting.

75: LIFE

Oh me! Oh life!
Wondering will you last -
Until all my fats and flesh
Are consumed by thee.
Will you be snuffed out at your prime?
I hope not.
Death would come I know -
Eventually.
When? No one knows.
But when it comes,
I hope I've aged -
Sufficiently -
For me to depart.

74: CANDLE FLAME

Beautiful blue and golden yellow flame
Perfect in proportion, oh what a magnificent -
Little sight! Strong and proud.
Shines as bright as it could be.
Meant to last as long as the wax last.
Prithee the flame could be snuffed,
By a wind blown by a man's mouth -
By a wind blown by nature.
Fleeting the candle flame is.
Easily snuffed out even at it's state of -
Prime.

73: COLD MORNING

Mists hanging by-
An inch over the earth.
Frozen dews on vegetation -
Frozen dews upon the earth.

Cold sips into my bones.
Tingling the marrows to the core.
Steam breath I exhale -
As I venture out on this -
Cold morning.

72 : UNFORTUNATE DEMISE

I saw a Raccoon this cold morning
Big, stout and beautiful.
Magnificent fur and all,
Lying on the road it was -
Swept by a rushing car -
Dead.

Vultures and Crows swept down on it.
Scavenging every edible parts they can.
Laughing, wailing and shrieking they are,
As they feast on the poor Raccoon.

Oh how fleeting Life is!
In this turbulent times.
The beautiful, the rich, the strong; don't matter.
For in a second, life could be snuffed out -
By an unfortunate -
Demise.
